Moogsoft AIOps platform release 7.2 optimizes ease of operations with visibility into algorithmic behaviors and a new workflow engine to transform service assurance

Moogsoft’s AIOps platform for IT Operations continues to gain momentum with its latest version, 7.2, bringing groundbreaking new capabilities to help customers effectively address their business and technical challenges. Release 7.2 introduces significant new transparency, efficiency and customization enhancements to the AIOps platform. Highlights include a new workflow engine that provides customers the ability to visually create sophisticated workflows for actions such as automated external ticket creation.

Visually Understand How Machine Learning Algorithms Work for Event Correlation

The Moogsoft AIOps platform provides a number of machine learning algorithms that are used to cluster alerts into “Situations”. Situations present higher-level clusters of related activity along with capabilities such as collaboration, probable root cause identification, topology, and now, Situation Visualization.

Moogsoft AIOps uses patented machine learning algorithms to deal with large volumes of complex data. As a result, it can sometimes be difficult for human operators to understand at a glance why certain alerts are clustered together by the system. Situation Visualization (now in beta) provides powerful new visual tools for understanding the operation of the clustering algorithms and for fine-tuning them, if desired.

Situation Visualization, when enabled, is accessed under the “Visualize” tab within each Situation. As shown in the above screenshot (click to enlarge), this tab presents several key pieces of information including: the type of correlation algorithm, the specific correlation “Recipe” used to help the algorithm focus on pertinent information, and clustering similarity thresholds. Most importantly, the clustering visualizations themselves present as radar charts which provide visual interpretations of the system’s automated decision making.

Create Powerful Workflows & Automated Integrations with External Tools

Moogsoft AIOps platform 7.2 includes Workflow Engine (now available in beta) that gives customers a simple, powerful user interface for building workflows that trigger actions both within Moogsoft and to external systems for actions such as notifications, ticketing, and other automated tasks.

Workflow Engine simplifies the process of deploying new processing and integration capabilities. It adds new, easily-accessed functionality that can be safely used to implement external integrations and conditional event processing via an intuitive visual interface (click to enlarge the screenshot).

Now most workflow use cases are straightforward for all customers to address. These include advanced event and alert enrichment within AIOps through data transformation and extraction, automatic ticketing to external incident management systems, and integration with external automation frameworks for automated remediation.

Workflow Engine provides a rich set of options to trigger automated workflows enabling service architects, automation engineers and site reliability engineers to:

  • Automate incident management ticketing workflows
  • Integrate with automation frameworks for remediation of alerts
  • Extract, transform, and route data within AIOps
  • Enable customers to easily customize and support their environment

Customize Collaborative Situation Rooms to Suit Organizational Needs

Situation Rooms is one of the patented groundbreaking features of Moogsoft AIOps. By enabling operations teams to collaborate within a single AIOps platform, teams are able to leverage all of their collective knowledge and intelligence to best utilize the machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities that Moogsoft AIOps brings to bear on large volumes of IT and DevOps data.

Situation Rooms present a core set of high level data in the Situation Room header by default, so that team members can understand the Situation at a glance and decide on next steps. No organization is the same, however. Some customers find that they would like to focus on different information to improve their operational efficiency. To address this need, Moogsoft AIOps 7.2 introduces the ability for customers to fully customize the information that’s presented in the Situation Room headers through an easy-to-use configuration user interface (see screenshot).

Gain Team & Individual Operational Performance Insights 

Modern IT Operations teams place a premium on efficiency and effectiveness. To help teams better understand their operational performance, Moogsoft AIOps 7.2 introduces Individual Statistics that allows managers to drill down from the team level to better understand the workload of each individual team member.

Individual Statistics is exposed via the same Moogsoft AIOps API as team-level metrics. Individual metrics include overall load, the distribution of worked and active Situations across the team, and overall KPIs such as Mean Time to Resolution.

With the addition of Individual Statistics, Moogsoft AIOps 7.2 provides dashboards (see screenshot) and APIs that visualize key data ranging from a holistic global overview of all activity in the system all the way to detailed insights on each individual team member. This insight allows team members and team leads to optimize work distributions and overall operational effectiveness.

The Moogsoft AIOps platform continues to expand its broad suite of out-of-the-box integrations for faster time to value. With new integrations in release 7.2, Moogsoft extends its extensive application and performance monitoring capabilities to deliver end-to-end enterprise visibility and real-time situational awareness across your entire organization.

Release 7.2’s new integrations include:

  • New Relic Insights 
  • Microsoft Teams (Microsoft Teams is replacing Skype for Business)
  • Proxy Support for all Polling Integrations (e.g. Zenoss, Zabbix, vCenter, vSphere, Solarwinds, Spectrum, and SevOne)
